چکیده

Background TissuepatchTM is an effective adjunct to reduce postoperative air-leak particularly after lung volume reduction surgery. However, thoracoscopic application of TissuepatchTM can be time-consuming and challenging despite several modifications to the manufacturer’s delivery kit. Wastage of TissuepatchTM during its application remains a problem due to the accidental contamination and activation of the TissuepatchTM at the tip of the delivery kit when it comes in contact with blood or tissue. We describe a new “Drain Dance” technique to apply TissuepatchTM effectively and quickly.

A Prospective Study To Evaluate The Role Of Perioperatve Cerebrospinal Fluid Diversion By Lumbar Drain In Transnasal Transsphenoidal Tumor Surgeries

Background &Aim: The endoscopic endonasal transsphenoidal approach has been widely employed as a treatment for pituitary adenomas and other parasellar tumors. However, the major concerns related to endoscopic endonasal transsphenoidal surgery include the risks of CSF leak post-operatively leading to morbidity and at times mortality due to severe meningitis. Several studies in the past have foun...

A Novel Hybrid Nano Scale MOSFET Structure for Low Leak Application

In this paper, novel hybrid MOSFET(HMOS) structure has been proposed to reduce the gate leakage current drastically. This novel hybrid MOSFET (HMOS) uses source/drain-to-gate non-overlap region in combination with high-K layer/interfacial oxide as gate stack. The extended S/D in the non-overlap region is induced by fringing gate electric field through the high-k dielectric spacer. The gate leak...

Effectiveness of Single-Port Thoracoscopic Splanchnicectomy in Controlling Pain in Patients with Chronic Pancreatitis

Introduction: Chronic pancreatitis is defined as a persistent pancreatic inflammatory disease. In chronic pancreatitis, recurrent episodes of inflammation lead to the replacement of pancreatic parenchyma with fibrotic connective tissue. Chronic pancreatitis pain, which may initially mimic acute pancreatitis, is severe, frequent, and continual and has a major impact on the quality of life and so...

The Redax® Coaxial Drain in pulmonary lobectomy: a study of efficacy.

Background Pleural drainage is required after pulmonary lobectomy to evacuate air-leak and fluid. We compared the performance of the new Redax® Coaxial Drain (CD) (Redax, Mirandola, Italy) with a standard chest tube (CT) in terms of fluid and air-leak evacuation. Methods Fifty-two patients receiving a 24-F CD under water-seal after pulmonary lobectomy through open surgery or video-assisted th...

The feasibility and safety of thoracoscopic surgery under epidural and/or local anesthesia for spontaneous pneumothorax: a meta-analysis

The aim of this study was to compare thoracoscopic surgery for spontaneous pneumothorax under epidural and/or local anesthesia (ELA) with that under general anesthesia and prove the feasibility and safety of thoracoscopic surgery under ELA for spontaneous pneumothorax. Relevant studies were searched in five databases from their date of publication to June 2016. We collected and analyzed the dat...
